Google Meet
How to record Google Meet on your Mac without a bot
Record Google Meet video and both sides of the audio with Replay. Keep transcripts on your Mac, with no meeting bot or subscription.
A local recording of your Google Meet call
Replay records the browser window running Google Meet, captures the meeting audio and your microphone separately, and saves the recording on your Mac. No recording bot joins the meeting. You can then transcribe the recording and search the transcript locally.
Use an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 26 or later. A one-time Replay purchase activates two Macs. Activate your Mac and download your speech model before relying on offline transcription. AI summaries and meeting questions also require Apple Intelligence.
Record a Google Meet call
- Install Replay in Applications, open it, and activate your purchase with the email you used at checkout.
- Allow Screen & System Audio Recording and Microphone in macOS System Settings when prompted. Enable Speech Recognition for transcripts.
- Join Google Meet in your browser. Keep the Meet tab at the front of the window you want to record.
- Tell the participants you are recording. Choose Meet in Replay and select the meeting window, or use Replay’s recording prompt when the call is detected.
- Press Record. When the call is over, stop recording in Replay. Open the saved call in your library to play it or read its transcript.
Keep Meet in a dedicated browser window
Replay captures a browser window, so switching that window to another tab changes what appears in the video. Keep Meet at the front, preferably in its own window. Sound comes from the browser application, which can include other tabs; pause unrelated media before recording.
Replay does not capture your whole desktop. Other windows outside the selected browser window are not part of the video.
Find the transcript, summary and action items
Choose the recording in Replay’s library. Enable automatic transcription in Settings → Transcripts, or transcribe a saved recording. Your voice and the meeting audio are separate, with transcript lines initially marked Me or Them; you can name speakers and correct individual lines.
With Apple Intelligence enabled, Replay can produce a summary, decisions, action items and chapters. Search across past calls or ask a question about a meeting. Speech recognition and generated notes can make mistakes, so check important details against the recording.
Your Google Meet recording stays on your Mac
Calls are saved under ~/Movies/Replay Recordings/ as ordinary video, audio, transcript and note files. Recording and transcription do not upload your meeting. If you choose Share Link, Replay uploads a separate video copy for 1–12 hours; the transcript and notes stay local.
Replay records from your Mac and does not announce itself in Meet. Tell the participants and obtain the consent you need before you start.
