Your data, explained
Replay privacy and data handling
See what Replay keeps on your Mac and what is sent for activation, payments, updates, optional public video links and connected AI assistants.
Recordings, transcripts and notes stay on your Mac
Replay’s recording, transcription, search, summaries and meeting answers run on your Mac. Calls are stored as ordinary folders under ~/Movies/Replay Recordings/. Replay does not automatically upload your meeting library and the Mac app has no analytics.
macOS asks for Screen & System Audio Recording, Microphone and Speech Recognition permissions. Optional Calendar access can match a recording to an event. For Google Meet, Replay records the selected browser window and browser audio, so keep the intended tab in front and pause other browser media.
Purchases and one-time activation
Paddle processes payments and provides receipts and its customer billing portal. Replay’s account service stores purchase and customer records so it can verify access. Email sign-in codes are delivered through an email service.
Activating a Mac sends your purchase email and device license public key to the activation service. The service retains purchase and activation records and issues a device-bound license. Recordings and transcripts are not sent for activation. After activation, the Mac works offline indefinitely without license renewal.
The website uses necessary authentication cookies for sign-in and account access. These are separate from tracking cookies; the website has no advertising tracking cookies.
Model downloads and signed updates
macOS downloads the speech model for your transcription language before it can be used offline. Apple Intelligence must be enabled and available for generated summaries and meeting questions.
Replay checks for signed app updates and sends its app version as part of that process. App analytics and Sparkle system profiling are disabled. You can turn automatic update checks off in Settings → License.
AI assistants receive the parts they read
Replay’s optional MCP server gives a compatible assistant read-only access to your local meeting library. The server cannot edit or delete recordings. When the assistant reads a transcript or notes, that content becomes part of its context. A cloud-hosted assistant can receive that content; its own provider’s privacy settings and policies apply.
Public web crawlers and search agents can read this website’s documentation. They cannot use it to access your private local recordings. Shared-video pages are excluded from the sitemap, blocked in robots.txt and marked noindex.
Website download analytics
The website counts download requests, including the app version, timestamp, country when available and referring website hostname. Download analytics do not store IP addresses, user agents, cookies or persistent user identifiers. These counts describe requests, not confirmed installs or unique users.
Vercel hosts the website, Convex provides the account and sharing backend, Paddle handles payment and Resend delivers sign-in emails. Those services process the requests needed for their functions. The limited download analytics described above do not describe every infrastructure or payment record.
