Meeting notes

Turn a meeting recording into editable notes on your Mac

Transcribe a meeting in Replay, draft notes on your Mac, and use the original recording to check decisions, action items and details from shared slides.

Draft notes from a recorded meeting

Replay 0.2.9 can fill an empty notes editor with a draft based on a recording’s transcript. It writes the draft on your Mac with Apple Intelligence. The draft can include a summary, key points, decisions, action items with owners and topics with start times. Replay leaves out sections with nothing to add.

  1. Open a saved Google Meet, Zoom or Microsoft Teams recording in Replay. If the recording has no transcript, click Transcribe. Set the speech language and download its model in Settings → Transcripts if you haven’t already.
  2. Check that Apple Intelligence is enabled and available in macOS. In Replay → Settings → Transcripts, leave Fill empty notes with a summary of the transcript on. It’s on by default and works even if the separate automatic summary setting is off.
  3. Open the transcribed recording and look beneath the video. If the notes are empty, Replay can draft them there, including for recordings transcribed before the update.
  4. Edit the draft in place. Use headings and lists to organize your follow-up, then correct names, dates and action-item owners against the recording. Replay autosaves your edits.

Find the part of the recording that supports each note

If you already have the recording open, search the transcript and click the relevant passage to play from there. If you don’t remember which meeting it was, press ⌘F in the library to search across recording titles, notes and transcribed speech. Put a phrase in quotes for an exact phrase match. When a result includes a spoken match, click its timestamp to hear it in context.

Keep the draft and your edits under your control

Generated notes can omit context or misread what was decided. Check commitments, names and numbers before sending them to someone else. If Apple Intelligence is unavailable, you can still write notes by hand and work from the recording and any transcript.

Replay leaves notes you wrote or changed alone. If you clear notes Replay filled, they stay empty. If you use Transcribe Again, a newer summary can replace a generated draft you’ve left untouched.

Keep the notes with the recording

Use Show in Finder to open the recording’s folder. Replay saves your editable notes in meta.json as searchable plain text alongside the rich-text formatting. The folder also contains transcript.md when transcribed and summary.md when a summary is generated. To send your edited notes as text, copy them from the editor.

Share Link uploads a separate video copy for temporary playback. It does not include your transcript or notes. Drafting, editing and searching in Replay all run on your Mac.
